Kite Mosaic Craft

First graders learn about how Benjamin Franklin used his kite to test his theories about electricity.  Today we'll have the kids make their own kite.

Supplies needed:

In The Art Closet

Construction paper

Kite Template

Tissue paper and tissue paper shapes

Ribbon

In The Classroom

Glue stick

Scissors

Have the kids trace the kite shape on their construction paper, cut it out.  Kids will apply glue to the construction paper and then decorate with tissue paper sheets, they can cut the sheets, rip the sheets or scrunch them up, anything goes! Tape or use a hole punch to attach ribbon to the bottom of the kite.

Extra Activity

Make your own quill pencil

Supplies needed:

In The Class Room

Glue stick

Scissors

In the Art Closet

Construction paper

From Home

print out the quill template, students can trace and cut or you can trace for them to cut.

​

Have student decorate their feather, then cut it out along the dotted line, glue or tape closed around a pencil.
