Fossil Trading Cards

Third graders are learning about fossils in November, we thought this might be a fun activity to go along with that.

Instructions

Either bring printouts of the fossil designs provided to the left, or you can draw them on the white board.

Pass out the brown or black paper, one per child. Have them fold the paper five times to create the nine cards.  Have them draw fossils with white, silver or gray crayons, one in each segment.  They can use the designs provided or maybe they can think of something from the past that might leave a fossil and draw that or maybe even something from today that will be a fossil someone will find in the future!? Would a Twinkie make a fossil?

To make their fossil cards look more authentic, they can use dark colors to make the cards look dirty, even scrunching them up so they look weathered and worn.
